As a result of the research findings, Oklahoma Human Services and the Oklahoma Indian Child Welfare Association collaborated to create impactful ICWA training for the pre-service curriculum. The new training includes a video featuring tribal child welfare workers who share about the importance of ICWA and cultural connections.

The production of the short film, “Keeping the Sage Burning”, is a project supported by the ICWA Partnership Grant with plans for a subsequent film that highlights the voices of adoptees sharing first hand experience of how ICWA impacted their story.

Keeping the Sage Burning is a project that was produced in the OICWA Substitute Care Committee. The research project ‘Keeping the Sage Burning” examined pre-service ICWA training for foster/adoptive parents in Oklahoma.
